Matthew Bryan Walsh is an award-winning theatrical lighting designer based in Minneapolis–St. Paul, working across theatre, contemporary dance, and new performance works.

His design practice emphasizes architectural structure, sharp spatial composition, and deliberate color contrast. Walsh’s work has been staged across the Twin Cities at venues including The Southern Theater, Rarig Center, Open Eye Theatre, and the Hanifl Performing Arts Center.

Walsh holds a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from Minnesota State University, Mankato. His designs have received top regional and national honors from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, including the 2025 ETC Emerging Designer Award and 1st Place in Regional Lighting Design in 2026.
